Hi,
I just wanted to know if after compiling xine on my computer (ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64 bit), can one just transfer it from one linux distribution to another and it will work as a portable app? If so, I can possibly help in that way for this site yeah.

Nope, it won't just work, otherwise there would be no need for this project. ;) We do need to package some dependencies (xine has a lot), and we also need to put it in the pafl format so that settings carry along portably. Everything's explained over at http://portools.com/development/app-creation-process/.
